Our Unforgettable Trip to Port Alsworth

We got up the next morning, packed the SUV, and left Homer.  The drive to Soldotna took about 90 minutes.  After another lunch at The Duck Inn, we headed to the airport in Soldotna to meet our friend for our trip to Port Alsworth.

This was a unique experience for us.  We had considered a charter plane ride as part of our vacation, but it just didn't fit into our budget.  This was a gift from God, and we are thankful!  We met some wonderful people in Port Alsworth, and we hope we'll have the chance to visit again.  (What a great place that would be to live!)

If your budget allows it, I would certainly recommend a charter airplane ride in Alaska.  As beautiful as the Kenai Peninsula is from the ground, it is equally majestic from the air, but in a different way.  I won't try to describe it, but I will share these pictures.  Enjoy.

It erupted in 2009.  No smoke today....right?

We spent the night at the home of our new friend, slept late, and made our way to Anchorage.  Our return flight would leave that night at 8 PM.
